About this tool

Create every favicon your site needs from one image

Drop in your logo and download favicon.ico, the Apple touch icon, Android and web app icons and the web manifest, with the exact HTML to paste into your page. Free, and nothing is uploaded.

The set follows what browsers actually request today rather than the dozens of sizes older generators produce: an ICO file for the address bar and bookmarks, an SVG that stays sharp at any size, a 96 px PNG for Google Search, the 180 px icon iPhones and iPads use when someone adds your site to the home screen, and the 192 and 512 px icons Chrome and Android need to install it as an app. No logo yet? Make one from a letter or an emoji.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Nothing uploaded
  • No watermark

One image, every size

Each size is drawn separately from your original, in halving steps, so the 16 px version stays as crisp as a small image can be. An SVG source is redrawn as vectors at every size.

A web clip that looks right

iOS fills a transparent Apple touch icon with black, so it gets a solid background of your choosing and its own padding. The maskable Android icon keeps your logo inside the safe zone.

Nothing leaves your device

Your logo is resized, encoded and zipped inside this browser tab. There is no upload, no account and no watermark.

Step by step

How to make a favicon

  1. Add your logo

Drop a square PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, ideally 512 × 512 px or larger, or press "make one from text" for a letter or emoji.

  2. Adjust and preview

Pick a background, shape and padding, and check it in the browser tab, home screen and search previews. Set your app’s name and colours for the manifest.

  3. Download and add the tags

Download the ZIP, put the files in your site’s root folder and paste the HTML into the <head> of every page.

Tips for the best results

  • Start big and squareA 512 × 512 px or larger source, or an SVG, gives the sharpest results. Small or rectangular images are fitted into the square and may look soft.
  • Simplify for 16 pxA favicon is tiny in a tab. A bold mark or a single letter reads better than a full logo with fine text.
  • Put the files in the rootBrowsers and crawlers look for /favicon.ico at the top of your domain even without a tag, so keep it at the root.
  • Expect cachingBrowsers keep favicons for a long time. If an old one still shows, open the icon’s URL directly or try a private window.

Questions

Common questions

Everything here runs in your browser, so the answer to “where does my file go?” is always: nowhere. More in the general FAQ.

How do I make a favicon?

Drop your logo on this page, or make one from a letter or emoji, adjust the background and padding, then download the ZIP. Upload the files to the root of your website and paste the HTML tags from the generator into the head of your pages.

What size should a favicon be?

Use several: a favicon.ico containing 16, 32 and 48 px images for browsers, a 96 px PNG for Google Search, which asks for a square multiple of 48 px, a 180 px Apple touch icon for iPhone and iPad, and 192 and 512 px icons in the web manifest for Android and installable web apps. This generator makes all of them.

What is an Apple touch icon or web clip?

It is the icon iPhone and iPad use when someone adds your site to the home screen. Apple calls a home screen bookmark a web clip. The icon should be 180 × 180 px with a solid background, because iOS fills transparent areas with black and rounds the corners itself.

Do I still need favicon.ico?

Yes. Browsers, feed readers and other tools still request /favicon.ico by default, even when your page lists other icons. An ICO with 16, 32 and 48 px images inside covers them, and the PNG and SVG icons cover everything newer.

Can I use an SVG favicon?

Yes, and the generator includes favicon.svg when your source is an SVG. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari 26 and later use it, and it stays sharp at any size. Older Safari versions don’t, so the HTML lists favicon.ico first and the SVG after it, which keeps an icon showing everywhere.

What is a maskable icon?

Android crops app icons into circles, squircles and other shapes. A maskable icon keeps the logo inside a central safe zone with background colour around it, so nothing important is cut off. The generator makes one at 512 px and lists it in the manifest.

Why doesn’t my new favicon show?

Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Check that /favicon.ico opens in the browser, then reload the page with the cache cleared or open it in a private window. Google Search updates its favicon only when it recrawls your home page.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything is drawn, encoded and zipped in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the tool is free with no sign-up.
